Looking for a fun spring break project for the kids or just a unique family activity? The Woodstock Museum is introducing a make-your-own birdhouse kit and decoration contest later this month.
The birdhouse kits were inspired by the museum’s new exhibit, Brick by Crick: The Heritage Architecture of Woodstock. With the birdhouse kits, the museum hopes to inspire kids to learn more about basic construction by creating their own unique building.

“The exhibition celebrates Woodstock’s built heritage and explores the history and architectural significance of some of the city’s oldest buildings,” said Karen Houston, museum curator.

While you can’t visit the Woodstock Museum in person right now, you can still check out its exhibits – most notably a new Black History Month display now online, focusing on the history of one longtime Woodstock family.
The exhibit focuses on the genealogical and social history of the Marshall family, a Black family that settled and live for generations in Woodstock. The exhibit is illustrated by photos of the family dating back as early as the 1860s, said Kerrie Gill, education officer for the museum.

Here GOES Radiotelescope, an artist-run DIY ground station set up to receive the transmissions of GOES-16, a NASA/NOAA weather satellite. Visitors to the sculptural station can sit within it and look through the “telescope” to view live images of Earth as they’re being received from the satellite.
