Businesses Can Apply For Funding From Buffalo Business Blitz

After a lot of support from companies and the people of Erie and Niagara counties, the Buffalo Business Blitz is now ready to start accepting applications. This initiative was started by the City of Buffalo and, the Buffalo Billis cornerback Josh Norman STARS24 foundation. According to WGRZ, the businesses that have been impacted to most by the COVID-19 pandemic can apply, such as a business with a storefront that does not have an online presence. The program went live on Wednesday and business owners will be able to apply through Monday, January 18th. This program has really been a huge success, Rich Products will say they will donate $75,000 to the Buffalo Business blitz, and just last week, Wegmans Meals2GO app, raised $135,000.00 to donate to the foundation. Rich Products has been on the West Side of Buffalo for over 70-years and has a deep appreciation for what small businesses bring to the community.

The Buffalo Business Blitz Gets A Huge Boost From Wegmans Thanks to the help of all the people here in Western New York, and the Wegmans Meal2Go app promotion, Wegmans was able to raise $135,000 for the Buffalo Business Blitz. This initiative brought on by Josh Norman of the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, and the City of Buffalo has been widely accepted and supported by many people in Erie and Niagara County. According to WIVB, Wegmans customers placed more than double the normal amount of Meals2GO orders in a two-day period in stores in Erie and Niagara Counties. Wegmans is donating all the proceeds from the Meal2Go app orders for those 2 days to the Buffalo Business Blitz initiative.

Wegmans Food Markets provided Foodlink with significant support last spring with a $700,000 donation to aid its early COVID-19 relief efforts as food insecurity rose dramatically in the Rochester area. This fall, Wegmans customers matched that generosity – and chipped in a little extra. The results of the annual Check Out Hunger campaign with Wegmans were announced today, with a grand total of $710,212.34 raised from customers’ donations at 21 Rochester-area stores. The total is the highest since the campaign began in 1993.
