Tata Signa 3118.T 3-axle 6x2 truck with 31-tonne GVW launched
Tata Motors has launched the Signa 3118.T - India’s first 3-axle 6x2 (10 wheeler) rigid truck with 31 tonnes Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). The truck will be lintroduced in phases across different states and markets.
The Tata Signa 3118.T has a 3,500 kg higher certified payload than the corresponding 28-tonne GVW rigid truck. Tata Motors claims that it has equivalent cost of operations with similar fuel, tyre and maintenance costs as a 28-tonne truck. Tata Motors claims that this will enhance the net operating profit for its customers by ~45% over a 28-tonne truck. The incremental investment on the Signa 3118.T, over the corresponding 28-tonne truck, can be recovered in less than one year of operations.

Even as the district administration mounted pressure on fireworks industry through inspections to check safety norms violations, Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) has instructed two major fireworks associations to comply with the Supreme Court directives to avoid using banned chemicals and making banned joined crackers.
In a circular addressed to Tamil Nadu Fireworks and Amorces Manufacturers’ Association and The Indian Fireworks Manufacturers’ Association, PESO Deputy Chief Controller of Explosives, K. Sundaresan, remained the associations to strictly comply with the Apex Court orders in letter and spirit.
Stating that both the associations were respondent in the writ petition pending before the Supreme Court, Mr. Sundaresan recalled that the court had banned use of certain chemicals in making of fireworks. Similarly, it has banned making of joined crackers.

Seven teams conducted surprise checks at the units in Virudhunagar district
Three days of surprise inspections conducted by seven teams of officials from various departments revealed massive violations in safety norms in fireworks units, resulting in the suspension of licences of 28 cracker units.
Virudhunagar Collector R. Kannan said that officials from the departments of Revenue, Police, Fire and Rescue, Industrial Safety, Labour and from the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation were part of the teams.
The company said the entire process of supplying explosives to a user is monitored by the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation, a body under ministry of commerce. The boxes of the catrigdges are barcoded to keep a track. However, if the loose cartridges are pilfered, it s the user s fault.
An abandoned SUV with 20 explosive gelatin sticks and a threatening note was found in south Mumbai near industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s residence on Thursday afternoon.
