A 28-year-old Regina man is facing 14 firearms and drug related charges

By News Room A 28-year-old Regina man is facing 14 firearms and drug related offences. Police say the charges stem from the result of search warrants executed last week. There is also three additional charges from separate investigations. A search warrant was executed on Wednesday January 20th at East Side Estates. Through continued investigation a second warrant was executed on January 21st on a vehicle. Twenty-eight-year-old Karl Tyrone Lerat faces a total of 17 charges; Careless Storage of a Firearm [86(1) CC]; Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose [88 CC]; Unauthorized Possession of Firearm [92(1) CC]; Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle [94(1) CC];

Article continues below advertisement ↴ Justice has caught up to a 27-year-old who is facing a string of new and previous charges including Break & Enter with Intent, Sexual Assault, and robbery charges. On Tuesday afternoon, the Winnipeg Police Service s Central District Community Support Unit was patrolling in the 600 block of Toronto Street when they saw a man enter a house they knew was unoccupied. Approaching the vacant house, officers took the suspect into custody, where they discovered he was carrying a 5” improvised firing device (“zip gun”) loaded with a .22 calibre cartridge. At this time, officers learned the 27-year-old had two outstanding warrants for previous activities.

Police arrested the driver and the passenger after the investigation allowed them to find over $11,000 in stolen goods and drugs in the vehicle. Officers seized the property, along with a quantity of fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine.  The 37-year-old driver from Woodstock was arrested on the following charges:  - Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x2 - Obstruct Peace Officer - Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drugs - Flight From Peace Officer
