Oxnard man released from hospital, arrested for allegedly stabbing wife to death
OXNARD, Calif. - An Oxnard man was released from the hospital Monday afternoon and subsequently arrested in connection to the fatal stabbing of his wife on Friday.
Police said it happened around 9:55 p.m. Friday night. They were dispatched to the 1100 block of West Hemlock Street where they found 27-year-old Karla Cabrera suffering from fatal stab wounds.
She was transported to the hospital where she was determined to have died from her injuries.
Officers said they were told Cabrera s husband had been the one who stabbed her inside her home. He was found hiding under a car in a nearby alley suffering from multiple self-inflicted stab wounds and making suicidal statements.

A Simi Valley woman was convicted Thursday of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from her former employer, according to the Ventura County District Attorney s Office.
Tara Elaine Nykoluk, 45, of Simi Valley, was convicted by a jury on three counts of felony embezzlement and forgery. The jury also found the special allegation true that Nykoluk s crimes involved the theft of more than $100,000.
According to authorities, Nykoluk worked as a part-time bookkeeper for T&M Plumbing between 2006 to 2015. The company owner fired Nykoluk in 2015 after discovering she was using the company s debit card to make personal purchases.
Through an investigation, Nykoluk was found to have embezzled approximately $348,000 on more than 1,500 transactions over her eight years of employment. She used the funds to purchase vacations, meals from restaurants and other goods and services.
