Thousand Oaks man pleads guilty to killing his mother

Thousand Oaks man pleads guilty to killing his mother View Comments A Thousand Oaks man pleaded guilty last week to stabbing his mother to death in 2020, according to Ventura County Superior Court records.  Christopher Schneider, 32, entered the guilty plea to a voluntary manslaughter charge filed Friday by the Ventura County District Attorney s Office. Schneider had initially been charged with murder in the Feb. 4, 2020, killing of his mother, Nancy Schneider, 61, of Thousand Oaks. He had previously pleaded not guilty to the murder offense.  At a court hearing Friday, Senior Deputy District Attorney Tate McCallister filed an amended criminal complaint alleging voluntary manslaughter, not murder. McCallister told The Star Monday that additional information has come to light and the manslaughter offense more appropriately fit the circumstances of the case.
