It is mid-afternoon on a Monday and Pritzker Prize-winning architect Frank Gehry â despite having just turned 92 in a pandemic, completed the top floor of his building in the Grand Avenue development, and prepared for a show of new sculpture at the Gagosian Gallery â has little interest in sitting back to reflect on this potentially meaningful moment in his life and career.
Instead, he is on the move â giving his first studio tour since the Covid-19 outbreak, far more eager to discuss the myriad designs he has underway, most of which have been proceeding. (Only a high-rise in Manhattanâs Hudson Yards stalled, and his office laid off eight of 170 employees as a result.)

.- It was midafternoon on a Monday and Pritzker Prize-winning architect Frank Gehry despite having just turned 92 in a pandemic, completed the top floor of his building in the Grand Avenue development, and prepared for a show of new sculpture at the Gagosian Gallery had little interest in sitting back to reflect on this potentially meaningful moment in his life and career.
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced that new High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV, or carpool) lanes are open to motorists on Northbound and Southbound Interstate 5 between the Ventura Freeway (State Route 134) interchange in Los Angeles and Magnolia Boulevard in Burbank.
With the opening of this new 2.7-mile-long segment of carpool lanes, there remains only one final segment to complete in Burbank before motorists have continuous HOV lanes stretching more than 18 miles on I-5 from State Route 134 to State Route 14 (Antelope Valley Freeway) near Santa Clarita.
The final 2.2-mile link is under construction in Burbank between Magnolia Boulevard and Buena Vista Street. It is scheduled for completion by early 2022 including a new I-5 Burbank Boulevard bridge and interchange.

SHERMAN OAKS (CNS) - A big rig jack-knifed this morning on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Sherman Oaks, blocking the northbound lanes for about three hours.
The crash occurred about 4:40 a.m. near the connector ramp with the Ventura (101) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Witnesses told the CHP that the truck driver ran from the accident and was last seen running toward the Ventura Freeway. No injuries were immediately reported.
The transition road connecting the northbound San Diego Freeway to both directions of the Ventura Freeway was closed and all lanes of the northbound 405 Freeway were stopped near Ventura Boulevard, the CHP said.
A bear is spotted in Eagle Rock again
A bear was seen roaming a residential area of Eagle Rock on Tuesday night.

A black bear was spotted early Sunday in Eagle Rock, about a mile from where another sighting took place last week.
About 2:30 a.m., a “small brown bear” was seen near the 2100 block of Estes Road, according to dispatch audio posted to the Citizen safety alerts mobile app. The state Department of Fish and Wildlife confirmed that it received a call about the sighting.
About an hour later, the bear was seen walking into the brush beside the Ventura Freeway during an apparently active morning for Los Angeles’ wild critters. “A coyote is barking at the bear,” a report posted on the Citizen app read.
