Ricky Whittle is exhausted. He doesn’t look exhausted – thank you, genetics – but he hasn’t slept properly in three days, watching movies on his phone late into the night, rising with the Californian sunlight that pierces the blinds of his mansion in Woodland Hills, an upscale neighbourhood (obviously: it has mansions) in San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles.
The following plan overview is taken from LA Metro:
“LA METRO APPROVES CONTRACTS FOR SEPULVEDA TRANSIT CORRIDOR PROJECT
Megaproject planned to connect San Fernando Valley with the Westside via a high-speed, high-capacity transit line.
MARCH 26, 2021
The LA Metro Board of Directors this week approved contracts with two private sector teams for predevelopment work on the Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project using a first-of-its-kind public-private model.
This megaproject is planned to connect the San Fernando Valley with the Westside and eventually LAX via a high-speed, high capacity transit line, connecting two busy destinations for residents and workers. The primary travel option for most people currently is driving the I-405 freeway through the Sepulveda Pass, a choke point that is one of the nation’s most congested roadways.

Moms won’t turn down a bouquet of hand-tied flowers from Bloom & Plume or a pretty potted monstera plant from Queen plant shop, but the reality is that most don’t want gifts for Mother’s Day. What they really want is to spend time with their kids (well, unless they’re within the terrible 2s-and-age 3 range. Then they’ll undoubtedly accept an all-day pass to relax at one of L.A. s Koreatown spas).
Instead, why not bring moms and plants together for a good time?
They’re an optimistic endeavor most of the time, and L.A.’s plant stores are often happy places where you can shop for plants and gifts as well as visit and enjoy time with your mother. “We get people coming in here all the time with their moms,” said Annette Gutierrez of Potted in Atwater Village. “I really love it when these young Gen Zers come in to buy their moms a plant present. They get so excited.”
The Catalina Island Museum will host an outdoor festivity on May 5
Cinco de Mayo suppers might very well be your every-night-of-the-year-if-possible suppers, which is understandable, since the festive foods of the festive occasion are such enduring staples. Download our mobile app for iOS or Android to get the latest breaking news and local stories.
But restaurants have a way of burnishing and bettering the beautiful bites we associate with the fifth day of May, making them even more marvelous in honor of the food-strong holiday.
While many traditional celebrations are cancelled in 2021, we can still find the margaritas, enchiladas, and guacamoles we love at the eateries we love, either by dining there or getting the deliciousness to go.
