Dane McGuire has joined Havre Daily News as a new reporter. McGuire came to Havre from Jerseyville, Illinois, where he grew up, because this job had everything he was looking for, he said. His immediate family is in Jerseyville and were supportive of his journey to Montana despite the big adjustment, McGuire said. They knew I was getting very anxious because I graduated in 2020 and didn t have work until I came to Havre, he said. I am right where I need to be, and I got a text message from my dad saying as much this morning before I came to work.

Before he was named the chief of police for Laguna Beach, Robert Thompson became acquainted with the coastal town during occasional visits with his wife and kids. Now he’s here on a more permanent basis.
Thompson, 48, who started his new role as Laguna’s top cop on Jan. 18, previously held the same position for the city of Dixon in Northern California. Prior to that, the Missouri native worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in its Sacramento Division for 15 years.
In an interview Monday, Thompson said he was a police cadet at the age of 13, and his career in law enforcement began when he joined the police department in his hometown of St. Louis, Mo. when he was just 21.

He reports directly to the Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) and is the SECNAV’s principal advisor on delivering Fleet readiness and combat lethality through modernized shore infrastructure, as well as test and training ranges. He is also responsible to the ASN (EI&E) for the oversight and policy for Navy and Marine Corps facilities sustainment, restoration and modernization; military construction; acquisition, utilization and disposal of real property and facilities; environmental protection, planning, restoration and natural resources conservation; and safety and occupational health; and recurring, independent, objective, and timely audits of the Department of the Navy’s Public Private Partnerships.
The University of New Mexico s Institutional Support Services has named Lisa Walden interim director of UNM Bookstores and Megan Chibanga interim director of Residence Life & Student Housing - after long-time Lobos Carrie Mitchell and Wayne Sullivan announced they d be retiring at the end of January.

Walden will oversee all aspects of the UNM Bookstores on main and north campuses.
Walden’s 16-year career at UNM began as the general book manager. Then, she became the operations manager for books and supply. Since 2013, Walden s been the division manager of retail and marketing.
Throughout her time at UNM Bookstores, Walden has served on multiple boards and committees for national and regional industry organizations. She s most recently served as chair of the marketing committee for the National Association of College Stores and as secretary for the Rocky Mountain Skyline College Bookstore Association.
