Weymouth Beach Graham Winter, who was the former mayor of Weymouth during the pandemic, compared his tenure to now as restrictions are lifted - and said it was great to see the town full again. He said: It was a struggle when I was mayor particularly for the hospitality industry. But I ve been out over the weekend and it s great that people are enjoying themselves and to see the town full. It seems the hospitality industry, which Weymouth is famed for, is getting back on its feet - although some businesses are struggling with staff numbers. Hopefully as the summer progresses, staff numbers are no longer a concern.

Haven s holiday parks closed down this weekend following intimidating and abusive behaviour of some guests, reportedly travellers, on Friday night. The decision and anti-social behaviour led to many familes leaving on Saturday and Sunday. FACILITIES at three holiday parks in Weymouth were closed to visitors following ‘noise and unruly behaviour’ by some guests – with one dad fearing for his family’s safety. All entertainment facilities at Haven s sites in Weymouth - Littlesea, Seaview and Weymouth Bay - were closed for the entire weekend to protect the safety of holidaymakers following anti-social behaviour of some guests. Guests were unable to go swimming, visit its clubhouse and enjoy shows, play at the arcades or visit the bar – meaning holidaymakers were unable to watch the Euro 2020 final on Sunday evening as they had planned.
FIVE summer fireworks displays will light up Weymouth in August - including two low noise displays - after an additional £7,000 was allocated by the town council. Fireworks displays will be held on each Monday in August, it was decided in a services committee meeting, as Weymouth Town Council agreed to increase the number of displays from the usual three to five. The displays, which were originally expected to cost £15,000, will now cost £22,000, and will be funded by the council, which allocated the additional £7,000 from the underspend in the council s overall budget for 2020/21. The budget, which covers costs of the firework display company, the vessel for launching the fireworks, the safety boat, Weymouth Harbour support, and marketing and promotions of the displays, also includes a fireworks display on November 5.
