A for Arizona announces public Small Learning Community Grant awardees

A for Arizona announced the seven public school districts and public charter schools launching small learning communities that will receive Expansion and Innovation Fund grants on Jan. 14, 2021.
In a continuation of the work to discover new ways of teaching and learning that is best for students, A for Arizona received a $500,000 grant from the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund in October 2020. The grant is to increase high-quality education options for underserved students through small learning communities. The GEER funding was allocated in the Federal CARES Act this past spring to address disruptions caused by COVID-19 and to support those communities hit hardest by the pandemic.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) -Nearly all Pima County school districts are going back to (or sticking with) remote learning as COVID-19 cases soar to levels not seen before.
Monday night, Vail Unified School District (VUSD) called a special meeting.
Before voting on returning to online education, the board held a call to the audience.
Jennifer Maddux attended the meeting to speak out about what she calls a “lack of options” especially for students with certain needs.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Vail Unified School District unanimously voted today to learn remotely for three weeks starting Jan 4th, 2021.
They plan to finish out the rest of this week in hybrid before going on break.
Tanque Verde Unified School District went back to remote learning today.
