Students at Wey Valley Academy in Weymouth have been reaching out to the community during the pandemic. The school held a ‘pop-up’ food bank. The concept started as a small project, where students were asked if possible to donate non-perishable food items in order to make up food parcels for a local food bank. Wey Valley students were amazing in rising to the challenge. Lila Mutter in Year 8 used her own money to purchase a box full of supplies while a Year 9 tutor group pulled together to collect an incredible amount of food. It didn’t take long for the donations to accumulate into a collection large enough to stock a small shop.
