VERSAILLES The opening of the municipal pool, Fair Fest planning, downtown signage, water and sewer issues were among the top agenda items discussed at the Village of Versailles Council meeting Wednesday night.
Attending were Mayor Jeff Subler, Village Administrator Mike Busse, Council members Jeff Beasley, Kent Paulus, Lance Steinbrunner, and Mike Berger. Also in attendance were Fiscal Officer, Kathy Ording, and Village attorney, Tom Guillozet. Absent were council members Cory Griesdorn and Todd Dammeyer.
VHS Band’s Mattress Fundraiser is set for May 16
VERSAILLES The sixth annual Versailles High School (VHS) Band’s Mattress Fundraiser is set for Sunday, May 16.
The VHS Band will be hosting their annual Mattress Fundraiser in the cafeteria of VHS on May 16 from 11 am to 5 pm. Mattresses of every size will be available with over 25 styles on display. This annual fundraiser has become a highly anticipated event and all proceeds go directly to the VHS Marching Band to help defray the cost of band camp for the students.

AMP awards scholarship to local high school senior

COLUMBUS American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) is pleased to announce the 2021 recipients of two scholarship programs, the Lyle B. Wright Scholarship and the Richard H. Gorsuch Scholarship. AMP is awarding a total of nine scholarships to graduating high school seniors.
Lauren Menke of Versailles is a recipient of the Lyle B. Wright Scholarship.
The $3,000 Wright scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors whose households receive electricity from an AMP member utility. This year, 23 students were nominated for the Wright Scholarship, and the recipients were selected based on their scholastic record, personal achievements and test scores. Four graduating seniors are receiving the 2021 Wright Scholarship.

VERSAILLES As members of the Versailles community, Mike and Sandy McClurg are honored to be named parade marshals for the 2021 Versailles Poultry Days grand para de.
The couple has deep and long-standing roots in Versailles. Both Mike and Sandy grew up in the Versailles area and graduated from Versailles High School. After moving away briefly for training and work, the two returned home and were married in St. Denis Catholic Church. They made Versailles their permanent home and have remained committed to the ‘People-Pride-Progress’ of the Village of Versailles.
After graduation, Mike attended Miami University, Oxford. Mike held multiple jobs in and around Versailles while working his way through college. Mike temporarily placed his education on hold after volunteering for service in the United States Army. He was assigned and served as a Military Policeman in Germany during the Vietnam War. After his service, he retu
