After more than a decade of warnings about the vulnerability of U.S. energy infrastructure to hackers, a cyberattack on a major pipeline has left over a dozen states scrambling for gasoline, jet fuel, diesel, and other petroleum products. Drivers in states like Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Florida converged at gas stations. Virginia Governor Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency. Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation issued an emergency declaration of its own to examine federal statutes some more than a century old to determine how the government could relax rules or enact powers to ensure greater flexibility on fuel transport via rail, sea, and highway.

He will formally begin his role on July 12. Ortmyer has been with WellSpan Health System in York, Pennsylvania, for 30 years, serving in a number of leadership positions. In his current role as vice president and chief operating officer at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital, he is responsible for a 141-bed acute care hospital within an eight-hospital system. “Bob has the right mix of experience and skills to lead ECH as it continues to thrive and grow,” Dr. John Brumsted, president and CEO of the UVM Health Network, said in a press release. “Equally as important, he shares the UVM Health Network’s commitment to ensuring outstanding health care is accessible and affordable for years to come in this region.”

Home Health & Hospice to begin phased reopening of Adult Day Program

South Burlington Location To Welcome Participants Next Month Vermont Business Magazine The University of Vermont Health Network – Home Health & Hospice Adult Day Program, which provides critical care and therapeutic services to the community, will reopen its South Burlington site on June 8, based on guidance from the state of Vermont. Statewide, Adult Day Programs have been closed for more than a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Staffing and resource challenges are driving a slower-than-hoped reopening for these facilities across Vermont. Home Health & Hospice will focus its staff and resources in one location – Farrell Street in South Burlington. The two other Adult Day Program sites operated by Home Health & Hospice in Colchester and Essex will remain closed until further notice, with the possibility of reopening them re-evaluated ongoing. This gradual approach is intended to work to ensure the long-term viability of this important program.
