Chiding his Republican colleagues for caring more about funding military defense than âthe defenseless,â US Senator Ed Markey took to the floor of his chamber Tuesday to demand the Senate be permitted to vote on President Trumpâs call for sending $2,000 checks to most Americans as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to ravage the economy, leaving millions jobless.
