WHITINGHAM â The Whitingham Free Public Library is open full hours with complete access to public computers and browsing.
The library recently received a Technology Grant through the Vermont Department of Libraries, funded by The Vermont Community Foundation to purchase two lending chrome books, a mobile printer and install outdoor charging access for devices.
The library was also a recipient of a donation from Harbor Freight Tools to start a Tool Lending Library.
Other new collections include giant games, such as Giant Jenga and Yard Yahtzee, as well as a large puzzle collection.

BRATTLEBORO â Brooks Memorial Libraryâs May First Wednesday lecture, âThis Is Not That: A Brief Introduction to the Black Death,â looks at another historic episode in public health. The Black Death hit the Eurasian world in the 14th century and left long term consequences. Dartmouth History professor Celia Gapsochkin presents an overview of the outbreak of the bubonic plague, and briefly compares it to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
The First Wednesday Lecture series, a collaboration between the Vermont Humanities Council and Vermont public libraries will be delivered via Zoom. The virtual talk will be presented at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, with recordings of the event subsequently available on the VHC Facebook and YouTube channel. BENNINGTON â Just in time for Arbor Day, the Bennington Free Library is giving out free activities bags. Families can pick up a bag beginning Saturday during library take-out hours, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Each bag contains sugar maple seed packets (the sugar maple is Vermont s state tree), a tree scavenger hunt, tree craft ideas with materials for bark rubbings, Arbor Day bookmarks and a Vermont tree guide.
