The message contains claims about improved security features and asks claimants to verify information through a fraudulent link.  If you receive this message, please delete and disregard, as the information is fraudulent. The Department of Labor will never ask you to verify information via text message.  Example of message being sent:

Mon, 05/03/2021 - 12:53pm tim Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Department of Labor announced today that Vermont has been awarded a four-year, $21.6 million grant from the US Department of Labor to help Vermonters who develop a potentially disabling health condition remain at or return to work. “Supporting the needs of working Vermonters and providing support to those who are looking to return to work, are key functions of the Department of Labor. But when an illness or injury impacts one’s ability to work, it has great impact on them personally and on our workforce as a whole”, said Commissioner Michael Harrington, “This program, which supports Vermonters remaining or returning to work earlier in the process, brings exciting resources and approaches that can be readily integrated into the state’s COVID employment recovery plan.”

State resumes online auction of surplus equipment and vehicles

Wed, 04/28/2021 - 3:53pm tim Vermont Business Magazine The Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS) has announced the commencement of online auctions offering a large assortment of State vehicles and equipment. BGS administers the State’s Surplus Property Program which receives and redistributes items no longer needed by the State such as office furniture, computer equipment, vehicles, and hundreds of other items. The auctions are an excellent opportunity for Vermont communities and others throughout New England to obtain a good deal on a vehicle or piece of equipment. Access to the auction system is facilitated by Auctions International. During the pandemic, auctions were suspended to comply with health and safety requirements.

Getting calls from the Health Department for a vaccine standby list If you made an appointment through the state registration system that is three weeks or more away, you may get a call to ask if you are interested in being on the standby list. The call may come from a Vermont number or may appear to come from another state. You will only need to answer “yes” or “no.” You will not be asked for your contact information or any other personal information since you are already in our system. If you agree to be on the list, don’t cancel your existing appointment! It will be cancelled for you AFTER you receive the vaccination if you get called in as a standby. If you don’t get called in, keep your original appointment.
