Hackney film celebrates the boroughs festive spirit

The film features community contributors reflecting on the year passed as steelpan music and home-made lanterns from Morningside School accompany their heartfelt messages.  A Chanukah song sung by Simon Marks school choir with dances from the Crib Youth Club in Hackney also features.  Rabbi Herschel Gluck says in the film: However difficult things might seem, we can bring light and warmth, into society, into the world and make the world a better place.

Family hoping to raise £15,000 for mum s cancer treatment in Mexico

A FORMER flight attendant needs £15,000 to travel to Mexico for cancer treatment in a race against time. Jabeen Anwer has stage four cancer which has spread to her pelvis, bowel, lining of heart and lung ­ three years after being cleared of stage four breast cancer. Her family raised enough money for her first treatment in Tijuana, Mexico after doctors said they could do no more for her. But, after getting the all clear and stopping the medication due to costs, the cancer returned. The family are once again in need of funds to make the trip as soon as possible for the 58-year-old be treated and have raised £35,000 of £50,000.
