Another vehicle rear-ended the pickup, pinning Jean-Baptiste between the two vehicles, investigators said.
A 31-year-old woman driving the other vehicle, a Mitsubishi SUV, told PBSO investigators she did not see the pickup stopped in the roadway. The woman received treatment for unspecified injuries at Wellington Regional Medical Center.
She consented to have blood drawn, the PBSO report said. The report indicates that the woman was driving under the influence of either alcohol or drugs. She is facing DUI misdemeanor changes, authorities said.
A statement released Wednesday on behalf of Jean-Baptiste s family said he was a longtime Palm Beach County resident who immigrated from Haiti in the 1980s. He was known for his landscaping business, which cut lawns from Royal Palm Beach to Boca Raton.
