Northerly winds and a high tide causes waves to crash over the sea wall at Balaena Bay in May, 2020.
It destroys umbrellas, stops ferries and planes and sends trampolines cartwheeling down the street. But Wellington’s infamous wind can also cause a lot of pain, landing people in the emergency department and costing ACC more than $3.85 million in claims since 2017 – the highest bill in the country.
