The Palaszczuk Government has today unveiled a list of vital funding measures that Queenslanders need to see in Tuesday night’s Federal Budget.
“Thanks to the way Queenslanders have responded to this health crisis, we’re able to focus our attention more intently on rebuilding our economy,” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.
“We have a great opportunity to build back better here in Queensland. But that won’t be achievable without significant investment from the Federal Government.
“The Prime Minister has spoken publicly about borrowing to build. That’s what we’re doing at a state level and that’s what we want to see in Tuesday’s Federal Budget – more federal funding for Queensland projects.

The Minister for the announcement by the Government that there will be $10 million allocated for the Gallery Precinct in Cairns and the further development of that. This is a wonderful project in terms of the arts, but it’s also a wonderful project because what it does is build good relationships with our Indigenous brothers and sisters and helping them in their ability to get very involved in the arts. That is such a great area for the First Nations people because their art is sought all over the world. And we certainly want to help that become a major feature from this project. But again, thank you for the Government. This is not a shiny thing; this is something that’s very important to the future of Cairns. Thank you.

Businessman John Wagner says he has been unmoved by reports the Federal Government will refuse to provide $40m in funding to his planned entertainment precinct west of Toowoomba.
Wagner Corporation announced its $175m Wellcamp Entertainment Precinct (WEP) in October last year, having secured $40m of conditional funding from the State Government.
But The Courier-Mail reported on Sunday that Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack had penned a letter to Wagner Corporation, saying there were âcurrently no programs openâ to provide the funding.
Wagner Corporation says the funding is required to get the project off the ground.
This is despite Mr McCormack indicating support for the project in November.
