The count for the May 6 local elections is taking place tomorrow

Results for Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council and Hertsmere Borough Council s 2021 elections are expected to come in tomorrow late afternoon and into the evening.
Hertfordshire County Council s results are expected in the earlier in the afternoon.
After voters cast their ballots for their ward councillors at the polls on Thursday, May 6, results are expected to trickle in over the next few hours.
We will be reporting the results as they come in over on @WHTimes on Twitter.
At the end of the counting process, we ll provide a round-up with all the results.

The summer holidays are looking brighter for disadvantaged children and young people in Welwyn Hatfield, thanks to a partnership which launched at Easter.
From July, Herts County Council, Herts Sports Partnership and Hertfordshire Community Foundation will join forces to deliver healthy food alongside sport and physical activity, under the name ‘HAPpy : Hertfordshire’s Holiday Activity Programme.
The programme is open to children and young people aged five to 16, with those in receipt of benefits-related free school meals eligible for free activity places.
It aims to tackle the triple inequalities of holiday hunger, physical inactivity and social isolation.

On May 6 all 16 wards will have a seat up for grabs in the Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council elections - with Welham Green and Hatfield South ward having two.
Of the 17 seats up for election, there are 10 Conservative seats, four Labour seats and three Liberal Democrat seats.

A week-long event hosted by Sport England returns to Welwyn Hatfield this June.
The This Girl Can campaign, aiming to inspire women and girls to get involved in sports, is calling on local sports clubs and organisations to get involved by planning activity sessions.
Entering its sixth year, the campaign is running from June 14-20 and has been celebrated by Milan Johnston, sports partnership officer at Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, as “a great opportunity to get more women in the area involved in sport and physical activity .

The decaying oak tree in Raymonds Plain

A Welwyn Garden City resident is fighting to protect an ancient tree which is showing signs of decay.
After seeing a council contractor s van next to an oak tree of roughly 300 to 400 years old on Raymonds Plain, the man, who asked to remain anonymous, approached the tree surgeon to speak to him due to his lack of faith in how the council looks after shrubs and trees.
The man was informed that the oak tree would be chopped down the next day due to it being dangerous, which would make it the second large tree on the close to be chopped down without replacement in recent times.
