The Group of Seven foreign ministers meeting in London was hit by a Covid-19 scare on Wednesday when India s foreign minister and his entire team said they were self-isolating after two delegation members tested positive.
Britain is hosting the three-day meeting the first such G7 event in two years which has been heavily billed as a chance to restart face-to-face diplomacy and an opportunity for the West to show a united front against threats from China and Russia.
India, currently undergoing the world s worst surge in Covid-19 cases, is attending the G7 as a guest and had been due to take part in meetings on Tuesday evening and throughout Wednesday.

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said he had been informed that Covid-19 was facing a possible case.
Jaishankar held a social meeting on Tuesday with UK Home Secretary Priti Patel, and the two agreed on a “migration and mobility agreement” that will provide a “tailor-made path” for young Indian professionals who want to live and work in the UK. Earlier in the week, he also met U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blink.
Members of the Indian delegation had not yet attended the G7 meetings at Lancaster House in London, and talks were held on Tuesday and continued on Wednesday.
India's delegation to the G7 summit in London is self-isolating after two positive COVID-19 cases were recorded among the officials, with Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar confirming he would be conducting his engagements virtually.
Strict coronavirus measures are in place at the summit where G7 foreign ministers met face-to-face for the first time in two years.
