Court upholds conviction of Chinese businessman linked to Hunter Biden Jerry Dunleavy © Provided by Washington Examiner A federal appeals court upheld the criminal convictions against Patrick Ho, a Chinese businessman and think tank leader linked to President-elect Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, as the younger Biden has recently been revealed to be under federal investigation, potentially in connection to his Chinese business dealings. When Ho, one of Chinese energy tycoon Ye Jianming’s lieutenants, was charged by the Justice Department in 2017, the first call he reportedly made after his arrest was to Joe Biden’s brother, James, who has said he thought the call was meant for Hunter Biden. Ho was indicted and convicted under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act for his role in a global money laundering and bribery scheme aimed at government officials in Africa. Pfizer fined $60m for bribing doctors to win business US investigations covered serious misconduct across 11 countries Pfizer has been fined $60m after its local affiliates bribed doctors and other health care professionals in order to win business. Charges against the company were brought the US Department of Justice and Securities (DoJ) and Exchange Commission (SEC) under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). The joint DoJ-SEC investigation, which compiled a lengthy series of misconduct charges by the company s local affiliates in 11 countries, comes less than three years after the DoJ fined Pfizer a record $2.3bn for illegal off-label marketing in the US.
