The US Department of Justice’s Criminal Division Fraud Section (DOJ) released its annual
Year in Review reporton February 24, covering 2020. This year’s report highlights DOJ’s sustained aggressive enforcement efforts despite the global pandemic. In 2020 we saw record-setting dollar figures, the ongoing trend of cooperation with foreign authorities, DOJ’s quick ramp-up in prosecuting Paycheck Protection Program fraud, and emphasis on corporate compliance programs or the lack thereof as a key factor driving some of the largest resolutions in Fraud Section history.
BY THE NUMBERS
From 2019 to 2020, the quantity of corporate resolutions largely stayed the same, with only a small dip, but the dollar figures by paid corporations to resolve these matters more than doubled. Toyota Stamps Out Bid To Unseal Ex-WilmerHale Temp s Case By By
Frank G. Runyeon Law360 (February 24, 2021, 6:53 PM EST) A Florida state judge on Monday declined to unseal allegations of corruption leveled against Toyota by an ex-WilmerHale temp who worked on an internal document review project related to the automaker s operations in Thailand.
Judge Curt Jacobus found that a motion filed by nonparty Luca Roveda, a self-described member of the press in Thailand, seeking to vacate the court s previous sealing order would need to be thrown out and refiled. According to the judge, Roveda s attorney Tino Gonzales was still technically counsel for former BigLaw attorney and WilmerHale temp Andrew Delaney, the John Doe plaintiff in the case.
USPS selects Oshkosh Defense for Next Generation Delivery Vehicle fleet

OSHKOSH, Wis. (February 23, 2021) The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) announced today that it has awarded Oshkosh Defense, a wholly owned subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK), an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract to produce the Next Generation Delivery Vehicle (NGDV), the USPS’s first large-scale fleet procurement in three decades. The competitively awarded contract allows for the delivery of between 50,000 and 165,000 vehicles over a period of 10 years.
