The series is funded by private donors and sponsorships and was founded in 2013. Contracts for all but two of the series’ speakers were obtained by the Denton Record-Chronicle through the Texas Public Information Act. A UNT spokesperson confirmed via email that Jerry Jones and T. Boone Pickens did not have contracts for the series because they were not paid for their speaking engagements.
