The government is drawing up a plan to address the challenges the country may face after graduating from the grouping of least-developed countries in 2024, an adviser said yesterday. We are trying to create an enabling environment for investment, and for that, skills development is very important, said Salman F Rahman, the prime minister s adviser on private industry and investment.
He spoke at a virtual roundtable organised by the Foreign Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Ficci).
Businessmen from different foreign companies operating in Bangladesh took part in the event styled, FDI in a post-Covid world: New realities and reform priorities for Bangladesh.

Active listening, which requires the listener to fully concentrate and understand with patience before responding, is a key value for any leader, according to Syed Mohammad Kamal, Bangladesh country manager at Mastercard. Be it within your team, organisation, customers or the new generation, if you really listen, something might come up that you never thought before and can bring a right solution, he said.
Kamal believes that a company s top brass must always share information in different layers before taking strategic action.

Rupali Chowdhury took Berger Paints Bangladesh to new heights after taking the helm of the paint manufacturing company in 2008.
Since then, the corporate leader led from the front and made Berger the number one company in Bangladesh s paint industry. Its net sales grew nearly six times to Tk 1,882 crore in 2020 from Tk 352 crore in 2007.
Obtaining an MBA from University of Dhaka s Institute of Business Administration, Chowdhury started her career in 1984 with Ciba Geigy (Bangladesh), a multinational pharmaceutical and chemical company.
