In a major boost to organic products exports from the country, first consignment of millets grown in the Himalayas from the snow-melt water of the Ganges in “Dev Bhoomi” (Land of God) – Uttarakhand – would be exported to Denmark, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA ), in collaboration with Uttarakhand Agriculture Produce Marketing Board (UKAPMB) and exporter Just Organik, have sourced and processed ragi (finger millet), and jhingora (barnyard millet) from farmers in Uttarakhand for exports, which meets the organic certification standards of the European Union.

New Delhi [India], May 5 (ANI): India has begun exporting millets sourced from farmers in Uttarakhand, which meet the organic certification standards of the European Union, to Denmark.
According to a release from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, APEDA, in collaboration with Uttarakhand Agriculture Produce Marketing Board (UKAPMB) and Just Organik, an exporter, has sourced & processed ragi (finger millet), and jhingora (barnyard millet) from farmers in Uttarakhand for exports.
UKAPMB procured millets directly from these farmers which have been processed in the state-of-art processing unit built by mandi board and operated by Just Organik.

UKAPMB procured millets directly from the farmers and processed in a modern processing unit built by mandi board and operated by Just Organik.

India s Organic Food Products Exports Rise By Over 50 Per Cent To $1.04 Billion In FY21 Despite COVID Challenges

Indiaâs export of Organic food products rose by 51 per cent in terms of value to $1040 million (Rs 7078 crores) during financial year 2020-21 compared to the previous fiscal (2019-20), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on Tuesday (27 April).
In terms of quantity, the exports of organic food products grew by 39 per cent to 888,179 metric tonne (MT) during FY 2020-21 compared to 638,998 MT shipped in 2019-20.
The growth in organic products has been achieved despite logistical and operational challenges posed by the COVID19 pandemic, the ministry said.
