Moscow [Russia], December 16 (ANI/Sputnik): Belarusian opposition leader and ex-presidential candidate in exile, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, received the European Union s Sakharov Prize, awarded to the Belarusian opposition, on Wednesday.
European Parliament President David Sassoli acknowledged her strength, resistance and courage , also noting that the EU sees unspeakable abuses of human rights in Belarus. Sassoli also noted that her determination to live in a democratic country is inspiring. We support you in your struggle . We have awoken and we will not go back to sleep, Sassoli said.
In her address, Tikhanovskaya paid a tribute to Belarusian opposition forces and protesters, and slammed police violence.

(ANSAmed) - BELGRADE, DECEMBER 10 - EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell called on the new government of Montenegro to continue its reforms, especially those related to the rule of law. Serbian media said Borrell s appeal came during a video conference on Wednesday with new Montenegrin Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic, Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic, Foreign Minister Djordje Radulovic, and President of the Parliament Aleksi Becic. Borrell said he is satisfied with Montenegro s alignment with EU foreign policy and security, and he thanked the Balkan country for its contribution to EU missions and operations. Regional media said Krivokapic will make his first foreign visit as prime minister on December 15 to Brussels to meet with EU officials.(ANSAmed). (ANSA).
