Regarding this issue, Foreign Affairs Commission s Chair Gilmer Trujillo stated that the draft Legislative Resolution No. 6267/2020-PI was presented by the Executive Branch and analyzed by the working group he presides over. It is intended to establish the measures to avoid and relieve double taxation on income taxes in Peru and Japan, as well as prevent tax evasion and avoidance, so as to continue tightening economic relations and strengthening cooperation in tax matters. This convention consists of a preamble, 32 articles, and the eight-point protocol that is part of the agreement. The Foreign Affairs Commission considers that the early entry into force of the agreement is of utmost importance, since it will be very useful to promote and facilitate investments between Peru and Japan, since it will provide a predictable and safe environment for their projects, Trujillo explained.
