TASHKENT, June 9 (Xinhua) Uzbekistan and Qatar have signed an agreement on opening direct flights between the two countries, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
The agreement was signed following talks between Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov and Qatar s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, who was visiting Uzbekistan, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
The two sides also discussed prospects for the development of Uzbek-Qatari relations in the political, trade-economic, investment, transport-communication and cultural-humanitarian spheres, the statement said.
Moreover, the two sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue joint efforts to advance the peace process in Afghanistan and restore its socio-economic infrastructure. Enditem
