Bihar is the latest Indian state to enter lockdown

The eastern Indian state of Bihar is entering a state-wide lockdown until May 15.
Bihar s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced the plans on Tuesday in a Twitter post, saying: After discussion with associate ministers and officials yesterday, it was decided to implement the lockdown in Bihar uniil May 15, 2021. Based on detailed guidelines and other activities, today, the crisis management group has been instructed to take action.
Kumar did not indicate when the lockdown would officially go into effect.
Bihar is the latest Indian state to enforce a lockdown as the country attempts to quell the country s deadly Covid-19 surge.

G7 ministers meet face-to-face after pandemic pause

Foreign ministers from the G7 wealthy industrialized nations yesterday gathered in London their first face-to-face meeting in more than two years to grapple with threats to health, prosperity and democracy.
Host country Britain has warned that the increasingly aggressive activities of Russia, China and Iran pose a challenge to democratic societies and the international rule of law.
UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Dominic Raab said Britain’s presidency of the G7 this year “is an opportunity to bring together open, democratic societies and demonstrate unity at a time when it is much needed to tackle shared challenges and rising threats.”
ROME: Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Luigi Di Maio said on Wednesday that Italian firms “may” help rebuild Benghazi airport, and confirmed that Italy’s project to extend a coastal motorway from Libya’s border with Tunisia to its one with Egypt would begin “in a few months.”
During questions at the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Di Maio also said that a visit to Rome by Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dabaiba is in the pipeline, during which Dabaiba would meet with a forum of Italian business leaders to “boost our chances of economic cooperation.” No date has yet been set for Dabaiba’s visit.
