Dhaka, Jan 7 : Bangladesh has sought an official apology from Pakistan for the genocide committed against the people of the country during the Liberation War of 1971, along with completing the repatriation of Pakistanis stranded in Bangladesh and settling the issue of the division of assets, said State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam on Thursday.

DHAKA, Bangladesh: The High Commissioner for Pakistan Imran Ahmed Siddiqui met Bangladesh’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka on Thursday and discussed issues of mutual interest and agreed to work further for the promotion of bilateral relations.
The High Commissioner handed over a signed copy of the Tripartite Agreement of 1974 to the State Minister which had addressed all the outstanding issues between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The High Commissioner said that the agreement should serve as a foundation for further strengthening of the existing fraternal relations.
The minister said initiatives like this will inspire youths to develop entrepreneurial skills, the press release said.
Among others, Tina F Jabeen, managing director of Startup Bangladesh; Prof Sarwar Uddin Ahmed, dean, School of Business and Entrepreneurship, IUB and board member of EO Bangladesh; Zareen Mahmud Hosein, President of EO Bangladesh and director, Shasha Denims Limited also spoke on the occasion as guest speakers.
