Qatar‘s foreign minister has called for a de–escalation of tension in the Gulf region and for dialogue between Arab countries and Iran,
Al Jazeera reported on Wednesday.
Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and non-Gulf state Egypt severed diplomatic, trade and travel ties with Qatar in mid-2017 over accusations that Doha it supports terrorism, charges which Qatar denies.
Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani said the Gulf crisis should be resolved by dialogue, respect for sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of states.

Doha: HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met Sunday with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic Luigi Di Maio, who is visiting Doha.
During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral cooperation relations and developments in the region, especially the Libyan issue, and issues of common concern.
On the sidelines of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding on the strategic dialogue was signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic.

Kuwait’s Foreign Minister and acting Minister of Information Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al Sabah said in a statement today that fruitful discussions have taken place to reach a final agreement and resolution of the Gulf crisis.
He highlighted that all the parties involved in the discussions expressed their concern for regional stability and affirmed that the GCC and the countries continue to strive to achieve the best for their peoples.
He also pointed out that the discussions come within the framework of the efforts by the late Kuwaiti Amir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah.

LONDON–As the inauguration of US President-elect Joe Biden approaches, and with his administration’s intention to reopen the gate for negotiations with Iran, Qatar is seeking to position itself as the “number one” mediator in the Middle East between the United States and a number of its enemies or opponents of its policies. In this, Qatar is perhaps hoping to take that role from Oman, but the chances of it succeeding look slim.

Doha - The State of Qatar and the French Republic affirmed the strength and durability of bilateral relations and the historic partnership between the two countries, and expressed their aspiration for their development to broader horizons.
During a press conference held today, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, and HE Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic Jean-Yves Le Drian, Qatar and France stressed the need to resolve disputes through diplomacy and combat everything that threatens peace and stability in the region and the world, rejecting extremism, combating terrorism, and standing up to all forms of racist and exclusionary discourse in the world.
