An overturned lorry on a busy street in Darwen created dramatic scenes on this afternoon. Police, paramedics, the fire service and highways were called to Wood Street (A666) at around 3pm after a large lorry ended up on its side. Nobody is believed to have been injured as a result of the incident. An eye-witness said: “The crane was called out to rescue the Frank Barnes skip wagon which had left the road. It looks like it had hit the lamp-post and totalled a wall just after Duckworth Street. “Traffic was diverted through the town and all of the emergency services were called.”
