Liberty City residents question Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club expansion

Before moving forward with plans to build a new facility on 15 acres of property that is the former South Georgia Fair site, the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club plans to hold at least one more community meeting before approaching the Chatham County-Savannah Metropolitan Planning Commission about a zoning exemption. The first meeting held Monday night at the club s Charlton Street location was attended by approximately 25 area residents, including District 5 Alderwoman Estella Shabazz and Savannah Mayor Van Johnson.  The need The Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club wants to construct a 48,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility in Liberty City, a neighborhood bounded by Interstate 516 and 80 on Savannah s west side.

(WTOC) - Virtual learning has been a big adjustment not only for Savannah-Chatham County Public School System teachers, students, and families but also for local organizations looking to support them. The Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club opened a virtual learning program in August to help families and continue to do so now. For the past six months, Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club has been offering school inside their building.
