Baptist Health names new Jacksonville CEO: Michael Mayo picked inhouse

It is a rare privilege to lead the only faith-based, mission-driven, locally governed, nonprofit health system in our region, Mayo said. These characteristics have set Baptist apart and this opportunity energizes me. We have an amazing team, and I see an exciting future for our community, patients, physicians, and team members. Baptist Health has five hospitals: Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville, Baptist Medical Center South, Baptist Medical Center Beaches, Baptist Medical Center Nassau and Wolfson Children s Hospital, as well as four satellite emergency centers, 55 primary care offices, about 13,000 team members and 1,762 physicians. Because of Mayo s track record at Baptist and working for other health systems, the board of directors unanimously bypassed the usual nationwide search to find McClung s successor.
