The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (www.AfDB.org) has approved a loan of €145 million to finance reliability and performance upgrades to the country’s rail system under the Egypt National Railways Modernization Project (ENRMP).
The funding will be used to enhance operational safety and to increase network capacity on national rail lines.
Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Egypt’s Minister of International Cooperation said, “Safe, accessible, convenient and green transport systems will be crucial to achieving sustainable development. The improvement and expansion of Egypt’s rail system through the ENRMP allows for active mobility and enables the urban and rural development through an inter-modal linked system. Technology and innovation, and a robust commitment to public transport will all be vital components of building back better.”

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Ghana has announced the opening of the 2021 scholarship programme in Accra.
The scholarship is awarded annually and is opened to government officials from Ghana and other partner countries and funded by the government of the Republic of Korea through KOICA through a programme called Capacity Improvement and Advancement for Tomorrow (CIAT). Fifteen courses are available under this year’s programme.

Citi News broke the news of COVID-19 infections on the FPSO Kufuor operated by ENI at the Offshore Cape-Three-Point Field which is Ghana s current biggest gas field.
Mary Akotua said FPSO Kufuor has so far recorded a total of 15 COVID-19 positive cases.
“We regret to confirm that 3 positive cases were identified onboard the FPSO on Friday 12 February 2021. The three cases were immediately evacuated, and all other crew onboard were immediately tested. Overall, 12 tested positive, and they were also all evacuated, along with other non-essential workers. To date, only one person has symptoms while the rest are asymptomatic. The symptomatic person is receiving care at the hospital, and we are pleased to report his condition is stable.
