Maldives, India sign Addu City Development project agreement An agreement has been signed between the governments of India and Maldives for land reclamation, coastal protection, road development and flood control projects in southernmost Addu City.
The agreement for the Addu City Development Project was signed during India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jayashankar’s official visit to the Maldives. The project will be funded under a USD 800 million Line of Credit extended to the Maldives’ government from the Government of India through the Export Import (EXIM) Bank of India. The agreement was signed on behalf of the Maldives government by Director General of Planning and Housing MInistry, Shaana Farooq. The document was signed by Chief General Manager of EXIM Bank India, Shri Guarav Singh Bhandari on behalf of India.

India signs USD 50 million defence LoC agreement to boost maritime capabilities of Maldives
India on Sunday reiterated its commitment to the Maldives security and signed a USD 50 million defence Line of Credit agreement with it to boost the maritime capabilities of the strategic island nation. The USD 50 million credit line agreement for defence projects was signed between the Finance Ministry of Maldives and the Export-Import Bank of India.
The signing of the agreement took place after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held talks with Maldivian Defence Minister Mariya Didi, Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer, Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail and Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam.
