Several national and State highways were blocked as the ‘chakka jam’ started at noon, hampering traffic. The protests have been peaceful and no untoward incident has been reported so far. Slogans were shouted against the Centre, demanding the repeal of the farm laws.
International Federation of Trade Unions national treasurer Animesh Das was picked up at 5 a.m. and detained by Kalkaji Police, according to All India Kisan Mazdoor Sabha general secretary Ashish Mittal. He alleged that police had also been posted outside the house of Pragatisheel Mahila Sangathan general secretary Poonam to prevent her movement.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has said the Indian economy is poised to grow by about 11% despite the COVID-19 crisis.
“It is not only the pent-up demand that is set to rebound but there is also the prospect of new growth in the post-COVID era as per the Reserve Bank of India’s monetary policy for FY 2021-22,” Mr. Jaishankar told the media at the BJP State office here on Saturday.
On the standoff on the LAC in eastern Ladakh, Mr Jaishankar said military commanders of India and China had held nine rounds of negotiations after the skirmish in Galwan Valley to ease the tensions following an agreement on the disengagement of troops.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar was replying to a query on whether there would be any ministerial level talks between both the countries on skirmishes between troops of India and China.

India has so far supplied COVID-19 vaccine to 15 countries and another 25 nations are in the queue at different levels for the jab, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Saturday. He said there are three categories of countries which are keen to get the vaccine from India- poor, price-sensitive nations and other countries which directly deal with pharmaceutical companies that make the antidote.
