Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency names Matt Lundy as 2021 board president CRAIN S CLEVELAND BUSINESS Matt Lundy The Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency has named its 2021 board president: Matt Lundy, a Lorain County commissioner. Lundy has been on the board of NOACA the transportation and environmental planning agency representing state, county, city, village and township officials in five counties of Northeast Ohio since 2015. He is the current chair of the board Executive Committee and has held positions as vice chair of the External Affairs Committee in 2018 and chairman of the committee in 2019, as well as serving on the Planning & Programming, Governance, Finance & Audit and Policy committees.

SNP minister: Short-term lets plans could penalise rural businesses

SCOTLAND’S Tourism Secretary has “let the cat out the bag” after admitting that his own Government s plans to regulate Airbnb-style short-term lets could penalise traders in rural parts of the country. Businesses in more isolated parts of Scotland have warned the plans are a “blunt instrument” that will see trade impacted across the country when the industry is attempting to recover from the pandemic. The Scottish Government has drawn up plans to require owners of short-term let properties to obtain a licence from their local council or face fines of up to £50,000. If approved, the proposals will come into force on April 1. But local authorities will have until April 1, 2022 to establish a scheme in their area and open it to receive applications, with existing hosts having until April 1, 2023 to apply.

OU Student Government Association to host, moderate virtual Norman City Council candidate debates

OU’s Student Government Association is holding a forum for Norman City Council candidates from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m Friday via Zoom. According to an email sent by OU SGA, the forum will be divided into five wards moderated by SGA members. Candidates from each ward will have a 20-minute discussion.   Ward 1 candidates Chris Lewis and Brandi Studley will debate from 6:35 p.m. to 6:55 p.m. followed by Ward 2 candidates John Argo and Matt McGarry from 7:00 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. Ward 3 candidate Sam Talley will answer questions from 7:25 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., then Ward 5 candidates Billy Davison and Michael Nash will debate from 7:50 p.m. to 8:10 p.m. and Ward 7 candidates Stephen Holman, Monica Marsh and Christopher Jourden will close the event from 8:15 p.m. to 8:35 p.m.

Thousands of businesses excluded from SNP pandemic support

Tourism Secretary Fergus Ewing THOUSANDS of self-catering and B&B providers feel they have been excluded from Scottish Government funding after the sector was taken off a list of top-up hospitality support.  Meanwhile, the Scottish Government has been forced into a U-turn after announcing that larger B&B and self catering traders can now apply for the strategic framework business fund – set up for those who have been forced to close by law by Covid-19 retractions.  But smaller traders, who cater for less than seven guests, feel they have been left out of hospitality top-up payments after a communications muddle which saw them not included on the list.

The meeting was also attended by External Affairs minister S. Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Harsh V. Shringla. Sources confirmed to IANS that questions were raised on India s preparedness in the context of China and the policy that the government had built to answer these challenges. To this External Affairs Minister Jaishankar replied that India s policy has been tailored to meet the challenges of a multi-polar world.
