1,000 Sikh yatrees due today Lahore February 18, 2021 LAHORE:About 1,000 Sikh yatrees will come from India through the Wagah Border here today (Thursday) to attend the 100-year celebrations of their religious festival Saka. The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) officials and local Sikh leaders will receive them. The ETPB chairman said all arrangements had been completed for the festival, adding that the best facilities would be provided to the Yatrees coming from India. The security personnel and other staff would remain high alert round-the-clock, he said. Additional Secretary Shrines Tariq Wazir said the government had issued eight days visit visa to the pilgrims. All gurdwaras had been decorated and foolproof security arrangements were made.

According to spokesman of Evacuee Trust Property Board, the Yatrees were scheduled to take part in their religious Saka Festival at Gurdwara Janamasthan at Nankana Sahib on February 21, for which all the arrangements have already been finalized. The spokesman said that Sikh community members will stage a protest at Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore this afternoon against Indian government for not allowing the pilgrims to visit Pakistan.

Pak asks law enforcement agencies to ensure security of Sikh pilgrims By Mansoor|   Published: 18th February 2021 8:19 pm IST Lahore: Pakistan’s Punjab government on Thursday asked the law enforcement agencies to ensure the security of the Sikh pilgrims arriving in the country for the 100th anniversary of the Saka Nankana Sahib from this week.  On Thursday, India denied permission to around 600 Sikh pilgrims to visit Pakistan, citing the security and COVID-19 situation in the country. The Cabinet Committee on Law and Order of Punjab government directed the law enforcement agencies and respective districts’ administration to ensure the security of the Sikh pilgrims and their holy places in all respects in connection with the Saka event.
