Take money from maulvi, followers to rebuild demolished temple: CJ

Top Story January 6, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) Tuesday ordered reconstruction of the shrine of Hindu saint Shri Paramhans Ji Maharaj, damaged by a mob in Karak with the money recovered from the maulvi and his followers who attacked and burnt the temple. The court also sought a comprehensive report on functional and non-functional temples and Gurdwaras throughout the country. A three-member SC bench, headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed, heard a suo motu case about desecration/ burning of shrine of the Hindu saint in Karak some days back. On Dec 31, the CJ had taken suo motu notice of the incident and had directed the One Man Commission on Minorities Rights, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary and inspector general of police (IGP) to visit the site and submit the compliance report.

Where did the owners of Royal Park Residency flee to when they have other projects in Karachi, inquired the bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed. The counsel representing the affected residents informed the court that one of the partners of the residential project is in London and the other is in Dubai. He further informed the court that another project of theirs - the Creek Side Shopping Mall - is being constructed in Defence Housing Authority.

Pakistan: ETPB sides with land grabbers who encroached houses of Sikhs

Updated: Dec 23, 2020, 10:18 PM IST True to its reputation, Pakistan’s Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) is once again trying to forcibly occupy a prime land which has been given on lease to Teerath Singh, a Sikh resident of Nankana Sahib.     According to highly places intelligence sources, the officials of ETPB in connivance with local police built the walls and laid the roof on the plot which was on lease with Teerath Singh.   ETPB’s action evoked sharp protests from the Sikh community of Nankana Sahib which gathered in front of the office of ETPB and staged a demonstration. According to a photograph that is viral on the net, Pakistan’s hardliner Sikh leader Gopal Singh Chawla is seen leading the Sikh’s protest. Sources informed that ETPB had earlier been forcibly occupying the gurdwara properties and selling them to the land grabbers or constructing residential colonies as it constructed Defense Housing Colony in Lahore.

Permission to construct a boundary will around the cremation ground for the Hindu community in Sector H-9/2, Islamabad is hereby accorded in accordance with clause 4.I.I of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Building Control Regulations 2020, ensuring that height of this boundary wall shall not accord 7 -0 ,” reads the notification from the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
