Beaches aren t one size fits all: When it comes to where you lay your towel, we re all looking for something different.
Some people like a long soak in the sun before a nice walk to lunch. Others love to ride the waves before heading to the boardwalk for a spin on the Ferris wheel.
From north to south, the Jersey Shore has all of this, plus quiet stretches of sand and bits of beach with great cocktails nearby. So before you pack your beach bag, consider which beach is your kind of beach.

The ocean beckons
By now, you’re probably saying, Didn’t I come here for the beach? You have some choices here – you can head into Cape May proper and spend the day on the Atlantic, where you will be close to amenities and the promenade if you are someone who likes to people watch and stroll. Or you can head to the end of the peninsula and spend the day at Cape May Point. Parking is available at the Cape May Lighthouse, where you will also find bathrooms, a nature center and a bird-watching observatory, or on the street. One of its notable landmarks is the Exit Zero Filling Station, fittingly named for its home beyond the very last exit on the Garden State Parkway. Cape May has a special, special vibe, said Jack Wright, the owner of Exit Zero Filling Station, which originally started as a hometown magazine publisher that continues to this day.
A 20-year resident of the Jersey Shore, Wright is originally from Scotland. I m from a place where people eat Indian food the way that Americans eat pizza, he said.
