Meet the staff and volunteers working at Punchestown Covid test centre

THE HSE’s Covid 19 test centre at Punchestown marked a significant milestone last Wednesday 21 July, having taken their 100,000th swab since opening on 24 August 2020.
That momentous occasion involved one Kathryn O’Connell Ruhle, originally from the Kill area originally but living in Cheltenham now, who was “absolutely” surprised to arrive at the drive-in test centre and find she was the 100,000th person to get a swab replied. She received a voucher to mark being the 100,000th person to be swabbed at the centre.
Speaking of the test centre in Punchestown Convention Centre, she said “it is absolutely fantastic, so well-run, very efficient, the staff are excellent at making you feel comfortable.”

THE Irish Prison Service spent almost €50million on the retraining and education of prisoners over the past two years, new figures have revealed.
Inmates were taught gardening, braille, crafts and hairdressing by 346 work training officers behind bars before the pandemic struck.
