Despite flooding and wide-sweeping wind damage across the Ozarks, no tornadoes were confirmed to have touched down Wednesday, a meteorologist says.
Megan Terry, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said the office in Springfield has been receiving reports of wind damage, but have not specifically verified tornadoes as of Wednesday afternoon.
Reports of wind damage have come in from several places, including Branson, areas near Silver Dollar City, Highlandville and Sparta. We did have tornado warnings extended farther eastward, so we may be getting additional reports of wind damage from there, Terry said in a phone interview.
The National Weather Service encourages residents who have experienced Wednesday s storm damage to submit reports and photos to the organization s Facebook page. Meteorologists need to know: when it happened, the worst of the damage and as precise location as you can give them.

This is the story of Cheryl Kaye (Graves) Carpenter. Cheryl was a wonderfully stubborn woman who enjoyed having the last word in an argument about as much as she enjoyed getting in a bidding war at an auction. She, of course, loved her family and friends too.
She was born in September of 1958 in Nevada, Missouri. Her parents, Harold (Shorty) and Permelia (Moody) Graves, and her big brothers, Wilson and Michael Graves, were excited to welcome her to her home in El Dorado Springs. As a child she enjoyed caring for her pets, playing sports, going fishing, and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed family road trips to California to visit her Aunt and cousins. These are things she would continue to enjoy the rest of her life.
When people hear the term âeconomic development,â what often comes to mind is massive projects to entice large-scale business which are so big they change almost instantly the fortunes of a community. In other words, something on the scale of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky in Georgetown.
Prior to Toyota, Georgetown was, for the most part, a rural farming community along I-75 just north of Lexington. But Toyota changed that community greatly, bringing in an influx of both money and people that was previously unimagined.
Likewise, when people think of tourism development, they often think of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, or Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where the economy is totally sustained by tourism and the communityâs businesses center on and rely on that industry.
