COVID-19 vaccine providers in the Highland Lakes are receiving more than 2,500 doses the week of March 8 as Janssen Pharmaceuticals’ one-dose vaccine is added to the fight against the pandemic, which enters its second year.
The Texas Department of State Health Services announced March 5 that the federal government is shipping more than 1 million first doses of the vaccine to the state this week, including 929,320 first doses to 1,651 providers in 234 counties. On top of that, the federal government is providing another 200,000 first doses to some pharmacies and federally qualified health centers.

While most people stayed off the roads during the recent winter storm, a doctor and two nurses traveled from east Austin to Marble Falls in an effort to save a newborn baby’s life.

A receptionist at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Marble Falls told a recent caller frustrated with the COVID-19 registration process that patients with the facility were being given priority. After unsuccessfully trying to register her husband and sister through the website, Marble Falls resident Darlene Oostermeyer picked up the phone. It took some time on hold to get a person on the line.
COVID-19 vaccination signup process for Marble Falls hub explained Before a person can schedule an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccination at the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Marble Falls hub, they must first have an account with the healthcare provider, something that only takes a few minutes to set up online. Once a person has an account, Baylor Scott & White Health will use the information provided to determine a person’s vaccination eligibility and contact them when an appointment is available. Before an eligible person can be inoculated through the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Marble Falls COVID-19 vaccine hub, they must first have an account through the healthcare provider, a process that is open to everyone and takes only a few minutes online. They do not have to be a patient of the Marble Falls facility, but they do have to have patience. The newborn system is still working out some kinks, one
