Lancaster Police Department welcomes new officer April 28, 2021LANCASTER The Lancaster Police Department is pleased to announce the hiring of its newest Officer, Kyler Kension. The 2016 White Mountains Regional High School graduate has been on patrol in uniform for the past month, but began working with the Police Department two months ago. After graduation, Kenison spent three years serving in the Marine Corps, and is now in the reserves. His time in the military and his ability to relate to all individuals in a professional manner will take him far. Kenison decided two years ago that he wanted to become an officer.

Mountaineers win two more to move to 3-0

April 28, 2021BERLIN The Berlin High School baseball team has started the season with three straight victories, defeating the Colebrook Mohawks by a score of 20-1 last Monday, before beating the Littleton Crusaders 6-4 this past Saturday at Memorial Field. In the 20-1 win over Colebrook, sophomore pitcher Jeremyha Dow threw five innings, striking out 12 and not allowing a single hit in the mercy rule shortened game. On Saturday, Griffin Melanson would extend the Mountaineer winning streak to three, as he threw a complete game while striking out eight to earn his first victory on the mound this season. On Saturday, the Mountaineer bats came out swinging early against Crusader pitcher Josh Finkle. A Ben Estrella single led off the bottom of the first inning before Tyler Rousseau would reach on an error by Littleton shortstop Blake Fillion. Virtual budget hearing held in Whitefield

Virtual budget hearing held in Whitefield Selectman Stan Holz reviewed the budget handout. It appeared as follows: General Government: 2020 Appropriation: $612,056; 2020 Expended: $480,188 and the request for 2021: $554,763, a decrease of $57,293. Public Safety: 2020 Appropriation: $921,155; 2020 Expended: $888,494; and the request for 2021 is $982,609, an increase of $61,454. Holz noted that there is a $30,000 increase for regional dispatching services for the police and fire-rescue departments. Highways, Streets, Bridges, & Sanitation: 2020 Appropriation: 998,399; Expended: 932,816 and the request for 2021: $1,032,677, a $34,278 increase. Health & Welfare: 2020 Appropriation: $23,654; Expended: $14,950 and the request for 2021 is $26,806, an increase of $3,152. Holz pointed out that the increase is for an increase in the Health Officer s salary and a line item for health officer supplies.

WMRHS graduate launches successful online business

WMRHS graduate launches successful online business December 16, 2020BOSTON, Mass. Ashley Vaughan, a 24-year-old White Mountains Regional High School graduate and former resident of Twin Mountain, has launched an online business that focuses on mentoring ambitious women. After graduating high school, Vaughan went on to earn her masters degree in Mental Health Counseling and Psychology from Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass. She explains the basics of her work, I am a mindset coach and self love mentor for women. I support women from around the world in prioritizing their self care, trusting their intuition, and loving themselves fully. Many of the women I work with are creative entrepreneurs, coaches, moms, educators, and business women who are wanting to heal themselves and put themselves first so that they can make a positive difference in the world.
