Senate votes to confirm Mallory to lead White House environmental council By Valerie Volcovici FILE PHOTO: U.S. President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris introduce key members of their administration in Wilmington WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Senate voted 53-45 to confirm Brenda Mallory as head of the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), a key role that is central to federal environmental reviews of major infrastructure projects and coordinating the administration’s environmental justice and climate change policies. Mallory will be the first African American to serve as CEQ Chair after previous stints at the Environmental Protection Agency, as CEQ General Counsel and most recently as head of regulatory affairs at the green advocacy group Southern Environmental Law Center.
