AMHERST – Amherst-Pelham Regional High School student Arden Lloyd was recognized for years of practicing her singing skills with a cash prize from National YoungArts Foundation, and the organization announced Friday she is among 60 budding artists nationwide nominated for the 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts.
National YoungArts Foundation said this is “one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students who exemplify artistic and academic excellence.”

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. A Staten Island high school student has been named a 2021 finalist in a prestigious young artists competition.
Elizabeth Shvarts, a student at Staten Island Technical High School, was named a 2021 National YoungArts Foundation Finalist in the Play or Script category the organization’s highest honor. Shvarts has been recognized for her caliber of artistic achievement and joins 659 of the nation’s most accomplished artists in the visual, literacy, and performing arts.
Niya Rashaan Smith of Atlanta, a Pebblebrook High School student, has been named a 2021 National YoungArts Foundation finalist in Dance.
Smith was recognized for her caliber of artistic achievement and joins 659 of the nationâs most accomplished artists in the visual, literary and performing arts. She was selected by a discipline-specific panel of artists through a rigorous blind adjudication process.

Smith will receive a cash prize up to $10,000 and the opportunity to learn from leading artists such as Debbie Allen, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Frank Gehry, Wynton Marsalis, Salman Rushdie and Mickalene Thomas. She is also now eligible for exclusive creative and professional development support including a wide range of fellowships, residencies and awards; virtual and in-person presentation opportunities in collaboration with major venues nationwide; ad
